Trivia

Originated in the Tang Dynasty when a chef cooked a giant radish to mimic 'bird's nest' for Empress Wu Zetian. In 1973, Premier Zhou Enlai suggested adding a peony flower, completing its modern form.

Eating tips & etiquette

It's a pity to destroy the peony, but stir gently and drink with the soup. There's ZERO radish odor; the starch-coated slippery, crunchy texture is so perfect it's indistinguishable from real bird's nest.
