Recipe

Ingredients

  • Old Monk(Dark rum)
  • Plain yogurt
  • Milk
  • Sugar
  • Ice
  • Cardamom
  • Pistachio

Instructions

  1. [For
  2. Servings/Ingredients] 90ml Old Monk (dark rum), 300ml rich sweet Lassi (200g full-fat yogurt, 100ml milk,
  3. tbsp sugar frothed in mixer), massive ice, cardamom powder pinch, roasted pistachios.
  4. Nights at Indian back-alley guesthouses/backpacker hostels. First make super-sweet base Lassi. Vigorously froth 'shaka-shaka' full-fat yogurt, milk, massive sugar in mixer (or masher) incorporating air, chill ice-cold.
  5. Pack rock-hard ice to rims of large tumbler glasses.
  6. Pour 45ml each 'Old Monk' releasing sweet vanilla/caramel aromas 'glug-glug' there.
  7. Avoiding hitting ice, pour frothed ultra-rich sweet Lassi instantly to glass rim, stirring quietly from bottom with muddler completely integrating rum and yogurt.
  8. As finishing accent, loosely scatter highly-aromatic cardamom powder and crushed pistachios on surface.
  9. Drinking a sip with straw (or directly), Lassi's refreshing acidity and intense sweetness completely erase alcohol edges; Old Monk's vanilla aroma escapes nose later. Soothing curry spices, it disappears smoothly into stomach exactly like 'drinkable adult dessert'—too easy-drinking dangerous demonic cocktail.

Trivia

[Hardcore] Indian back-alley culture famous for 'Bhang Lassi (cannabis Lassi)', but said to originate from backpackers mixing 'Old Monk' into Lassi to get safely yet intensely drunk (locally also Old Monk Shake). Since yogurt milk fat masks alcohol stimulation, drunk completely unawares despite high ABV, yielding successive 'sunk persons' unable to stand—demonic recipe.

Eating tips & etiquette

[Unique Drinking] When making Lassi in mixer, toss half 'fully ripe banana' together making 'Banana Rum Lassi', completely concealing alcohol with tropical sweetness!
