- Xian Dan(Salted egg yolk)
- Thick soy sauce

- Soak Zailai rice (low-starch Taiwanese rice, or Joshinko) overnight, blend with water into a smooth 'Mi Jiang' (rice milk).
- Sauté minced pork, chopped dried shiitake, shallots, and dried shrimp, seasoning strongly sweet and savory with soy sauce and five-spice.
- Heat part of the rice milk to thicken into a paste, mix with the rest to form the base batter.
- In a small ceramic rice bowl, place the sautéed filling and half a salted duck egg yolk (Xian Dan).
- Pour the rice batter over it, steam for about
