Instructions

  2. [Ingredients] Sauté and braise pork belly, rehydrated shiitake, and shallots with soy sauce and five-spice (Rouzao). Prepare 'Xian Dan' (salted duck egg yolk) and 'chestnuts (or peanuts)'.
  3. [Rice] Soak long-grain glutinous rice. *Northern Zongzi: stir-fry rice with sauce until half-cooked. Southern Zongzi: use raw rice.
  4. Wash bamboo leaves to draw out aroma, overlap
  5. leaves to make a cone pocket.
  6. Pack rice, fillings (pork, shiitake, yolk, peanuts), and rice again.
  7. Fold the leaves over to seal, shape into a pyramid, and tie tightly with string.
