Recipe

Ingredients

  • Oriental Beauty Tea leaves
  • Hot water(80-85°C)

Instructions

  1. [Authentic Brewing]
  2. [Tea Leaf Selection] Prepare 'Oriental Beauty Tea (aka: Baihao Oolong Tea)' leaves grown entirely pesticide-free (to attract bugs) in Taiwan's Hsinchu or Miaoli. The more white down (Baihao), the higher the grade.
  3. [Temp Control (Absolute Condition)] Brewing with boiling water (100°C) like regular Oolong is NG. It extracts astringency and destroys the sweet aroma, so absolutely use slightly cooled water at '80-85°C'.
  4. Put tea leaves in a teapot (Chahu), pour 80°C water.
  5. Steep for ~1-
  6. mins (slightly longer from 2nd infusion).
  7. Pour completely into a pitcher (Chahai), then pour into teacups (Chabei).
  8. An intense sweet honey-like aroma rises from the beautiful amber tea.

Trivia

[For Adults] Legend says it was exported to the UK in the 19th century, and Queen Victoria, moved by its beauty and aroma, named it 'Oriental Beauty'. High fermentation (~70%) akin to black tea means low astringency; it smells sweet and fruity without any sugar, a miraculous tea captivating tea lovers worldwide.

Eating tips & etiquette

[Unique Eating] Before drinking, 'inhale deeply' the sweet honey-like aroma rising from the teacup through your nose, and when in your mouth, roll it on your tongue to enjoy the fruitiness!
