Dried roots of the bellflower family (Ladybell). Medically said to 'moisturize the lungs, stop dry coughs, and comfort the stomach'. In Cantonese medicinal soups (Lao Huo Tang), it is ALWAYS paired with Yu Zhu (Solomon's Seal), which has similar 'moisturizing effects', forming the golden combo 'Sha Shen Yu Zhu'.
