Dried Pipefish (Hai Long)
海馬(タツノオトシゴ)の親友!細長いドラゴンの薬膳スープ
Description
A long, slender fish of the same Syngnathidae family as the seahorse (Hai Ma), dried. Called 'Sea Dragon' (Hai Long) in Chinese. Said to have very similar medicinal effects to seahorses (intense stamina boost, fatigue recovery), often used paired with seahorses (or alone) as a material for Cantonese medicinal soups—a maniac dry good.

Trivia
'Hai Long Jiu' infused in liquor is a 'secret stamina medicine' treasured in the cupboards of Chinese older men. Meeting eyes with the mummy-like slender fish inside is slightly startling.
Eating tips & etiquette
While seahorses (Hai Ma) are slightly curled, Hai Long is long and slender like a 'straight pencil'. In the medicinal world, 'Hai Ma is fire (heat), Hai Long is slightly milder', distinguished by constitution.
