- When making Biryani (spiced rice) or Pulao (pilaf), toss 1-
- whole stars into the boiling water for rice along with cinnamon/cardamom.
- The strong sweet aroma dissolves into water, firmly penetrating each rice grain.
- Extremely strong aroma; too much turns everything into 'star anise flavor', so
- is enough even for large pots. Remove when eating.
