- [Tangyuan (Rice Balls)] Wrap 'Zhi Ma Xian' (black sesame paste kneaded with lard) or 'Hua Sheng Xian' (peanut paste) in glutinous rice flour dough, making ping-pong-sized large balls.
- Boil Tangyuan in a separate pot of hot water. Floating is the sign they're cooked.
- [Guihua Syrup] Boil water in a pot, dissolve rock sugar.
- Add a few tbsp of the core flavor/aroma 'Guihua Jiang (osmanthus flower syrup)' (an elegant sweet aroma instantly spreads). Many shops add a little Jiu Niang (fermented rice like Amazake) for depth.
- Place boiled Tangyuan in a bowl, pour the hot Guihua syrup.
- The tiny yellow osmanthus petals floating in the soup are beautiful.
