Instructions
- [For
- Servings/Ingredients] 90ml Dry Gin, Jaljeera Water (green water blending
- tbsp roasted cumin, handful fresh mint, handful cilantro,
- tsp black salt,
- tbsp lemon juice, 300ml water in mixer), massive ice,
- tbsp fried tiny chickpea flour balls (Boondi).
- First, make 'Jaljeera', gastrointestinal-medicine-like drink indispensable in Indian summers. Blend intensely savory roasted cumin, fresh mint/cilantro, boiled-egg-smelling black salt, lemon juice, water in mixer making dark green spice water.
- At Delhi/Mumbai pubs, pack rock glasses brimmingly with ice.
- Pour 45ml each botanical 'Dry Gin' into glasses.
- Instantly pour pre-made intensely-smelling 'Jaljeera Water' over it, stirring firmly from bottom with muddler.
- As finishing accent, loosely float crispy 'Boondi (tiny fried balls made of chickpea flour)' used in Pani Puri etc. on liquid surface.
- Timidly taking a sip, along with gin alcohol, cumin's 'curry-like smell', mint freshness, and black salt 'intense saltiness/acidity' mix chaotically, causing brain panic. However, from the second sip you realize this saltiness perfectly washes away Tandoori Chicken fat, becoming an unstoppable magic cocktail.

Trivia
[Hardcore] 'Jal' is water, 'Jeera' is cumin. Sinful idea diluting Jaljeera—'salt-replenishing/digestion-promoting drink' to survive Indian extreme heat—with gin. Like a spice version of Japan's 'Salty Lemon Sour', but black salt sulfur odor/cumin earthiness are so unusual foreigners drinking first time hallucinate 'being forced to drink cold curry juice'. However, no better optimal solution exists as aperitif paired with Indian cuisine.
